Who Holds Your Hand

For I, the LORD your God hold your right hand. It is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13 ESV

In the past few years, I have let my physical side decline. I gained weight and only exercised when I felt like it. Honestly that has not been too often. I am in the process of making a change by paying more attention to what I eat, not just how much. I am also scheduling my exercise and sticking to it.

At the end of each week, I evaluate what worked and what did not. Then I focus on the next week, only 1 week at a time and schedule my exercise sessions around my other commitments. I make sure there is a slot for exercise 6 days a week. Sundays I take for God and rest.

I have a plan that I am using for food as well. Though I must admit, I do not stick to it quite as closely. First, I am not thrilled with the recipes. Second, I have some experience putting together healthy meals. I still choose mostly healthy options and still track what I eat. I want to know what I ate so I don’t overdo calories and keep a balance on carbs and proteins. I also want to know how certain foods and times eaten affect my blood sugar.

I noticed when I let my physical side decline, my mental, emotional, and spiritual side were also affected. I became more negative and battled depression. I felt that I had not only let myself down, but I let God down as well. Life became dark for me. I tried to hide it most of the time, but God saw it.

Thankfully, God did not let me stay in that darkness. He met me in my pit and held me until I could find a steady footing. I sought some medical and therapeutic help and clung to God and his Word as closely as I could. Once my other sides became a bit more balanced, I knew it was time to work on the physical.

I am human and as hard as I try, I have learned my life will never be completely balanced. However, with God holding my hand, I will always have a support to hold me even when I stumble. Who is holding your hand today?

Blessings,

Kathryn
