Psalm 1 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous but the way of the wicked will perish.
This Psalm reminds me that I find my true joy in God. Just thinking about God and all his mighty descriptions: Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, Jehovah, and many more found throughout scripture, leaves me in a sense of awe and wonderment! It reminds me I am nothing without Him.
Meditating does not mean I keep my nose in the bible, but that I keep the conversation with God going throughout my day and the lessons I have learned in my heart. It is asking His guidance when I am not sure what decision to make; thanking Him for a sunshiny day; observing the beauty that surrounds me and was designed and created by Him.
Carrying God with me throughout my days is like me becoming the tree planted by the stream. I am constantly refreshed and nourished. If God is my nourishment, fruit will bloom in my life. Fruit that draws others to know more about God and His Son, Jesus.
Pause and consider what or who is nourishing you today?
Blessings,
Kathryn
