OUR HOPE IS A PROMISE

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 ESV

We use the word hope in a variety of ways. We hope our friend will visit us soon. We hope our favorite team will win the game. We say we hope for many things, but that hope is simply a wish or desire. It can be a need, but usually it is simply a want. It is something we would like to have but there is no guarantee that we will ever get it.

The bible tells us hope is connected with faith and a promise. All of God’s promises found in the Old Testament are fulfilled in the New Testament. The most important can be found in the book of Isaiah. The prophet Isaiah repeatedly tells us of God’s promise of the coming Savior. That promise was fulfilled through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, that we read about in multiple places in the New Testament.

In Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.” Our hope is a promise from God to eternal life through His Son and our Savior Jesus. God does not break promises. We are able to look to the future in hope, knowing Jesus has made the way for us to live with him eternally. We can live Hebrews 10:23 and hold fast to our hope without wavering, because God promised and He is faithful.

Blessings,

Kathryn
