“The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Exodus 14:14 NLT
The wilderness journey for the Israelites is just beginning. Because God knows them, he leads them a round about way to avoid the Philistines. At this point they see the Egyptians coming at them from one side and the Red Sea on the opposite side. They panic and cry out to Moses. They accuse Moses of bringing them to the wilderness to die. They are wishing they were still in slavery in Egypt, at least they would survive.
Moses remains calm and reminds them that the LORD will fight for them. They had just seen God’s power in all the plagues against Pharoah and the Egyptians, yet they are in a panic just a few days later. What is this panic? Fear!
I can relate to this reaction. I have lived long enough to have seen God’s power work in my life and those around me. Yet, there are times when things happen in my life and I react with fear. This fear brings doubt and can send me down a spiral of negativity. But when I stop and seek God in faith, the doubts begin to fade to trust. The fear begins to diminish, and I can find peace in the turmoil or trauma that is occurring. Faith reminds me that I am never truly alone and God will fight for me if I seek him.
How do you react when life seems to be out of control? Remember you are not alone and make your FAITH stronger than your fear.
